Some of the most expensive repairs to a home come from small plumbing leaks that go undetected for months and years. Over time these slow leaks begin to damage wood, flooring, drywall, and insulation. Adding to the damage is the fact that mold loves a moist and warm environment so even when the leak is finally found you are not only paying for repairing the pipes but also having to mitigate mold.
The picture below is from a home built in 1974. The drain pipe under the guest bathroom tub is not properly connected and may have been leaking for years causing major damage and giving mold a home to grow.
Having a Home Inspector check your home every couple of years is a great way to protect your investment and can avert major structural or systems damage and repair costs.
